About the Saints
Saints are people recognized by the Catholic Church for their exceptional service to God. The process by which a person becomes recognized as a saint is known as canonization. A patron saint is recognized as the saint of a particular thing, place, idea, or profession. For example, Saint Patrick is the Patron Saint of Ireland. It is not known exactly how many saints have been recognized by the Catholic Church.
