Lodz was the second largest community of Jews outside of Warsaw. Historian Dobroszycki, who survived the Lodz ghetto, edited this volume of life in Lodz. Documenting the experience from 1941-1944 were members of the Department of Archives who were in the administraion of the ghetto.

Not only an important chronical of daily life in the Warsaw ghetto, but a source that can be looked to see how Kaplan viewed the Judenrat as well as how the Jews found out about Nazi policies and actions.
