Canvas at the Library

Library resources that SU faculty can integrate into Canvas courses:

 

Librarians can support your class in a variety of ways which include answering questions about research and library resources or creating specially designed instructional materials. Please contact your liaison librarian for more information before enrolling them in your class. (Instructions for can be found in the SU Canvas Help Center FAQs-Course Enrollment Section).

  • Links to full text articles, ebooks and other items in the library catalog
  • Links to Library research (subject) guides
  • Links to Research Help options for students, including 24/7 drop-in chat services and research consultation appointments
  • Customized library course guide (contact your liaison librarian if you are interested in having a specialized guide created for your class)  
  • If you are not sure which librarian to contact, you can submit a request through the form on our Library Instruction guide

    **Visit the Research Guides page for examples of existing course guides (under the “By Type” heading)

Include a Library and Learning Commons link in your Course Navigation:

To add a link to the library in your course navigation, you can use the Redirect Tool:

  • Go to course Settings and select the 'Apps' tab and then search for the Redirect tool.
  • Click the Redirect tool and click 'Add App'.
  • In the 'Add App' dialog:
    • In the "Name" field, enter Library and Learning Commons.
    • In the "URL Redirect" field, enter https://www.seattleu.edu/library/
    • If desired, check Force open in new tab.
    • Check Show in Course Navigation.
    • Click Add App.
  • To see the web resource link in the course navigation, refresh the page; click the link to test it.
