Harvard Business Review (HBR)

The following statement appears on every Harvard Business Review (HBR) article in the EBSCOhost database letter content on Business Source Complete:

Harvard Business Review and Harvard Business Publishing Newsletter content on EBSCOhost is licensed for the private individual use of authorized EBSCOhost users.  It is not intended for use as assigned course material in academic institutions nor as corporate learning or training materials in businesses.  Academic licensees may not use this content in electronic reserves, electronic course packs, persistent linking from syllabi or by any other means of incorporating the content into course reserves.  Business licensees may not host this content on learning management systems or use persistent linking or other means to incorporate the content into learning management systems.  Harvard Business Publishing will be pleased to grant permission to make this content available through such means.  For rates and permission, contact permissions@harvard business.org.

  • Please note:  Faculty should not use the persistent linking feature for HBR in Business Source Complete to provide links in Canvas.

  • To access this resource, please to go to the Seattle University Library's online catalog, Primo.   Use the quick guide "Your Guide to Primo"  to help you find both our print and electronic journals through the catalog.

In addition, Harvard Publishing has restricted to “read only” 500 articles in Business Source Complete. These articles, which can still be read on a computer screen, are blocked from downloading and printing.  For full access to these articles, as well as the ability to include articles for course use, Harvard Publishing has instituted an upgrade fee.  At this time, Lemieux Library does not subscribe to this special license.  These articles can be located in our print and micro holdings.

Shelved on the 5th floor by title, the library has a historical print collection of the Harvard Business Review starting with v.1 (1922) and up to v.47:no.6 (1969).  The latest ten years of this title are also in print.  In addition, the Harvard Business Review is available in microfiche from 1970 to current and can be found in the micro cabinets on the 5th floor.

Harvard Case Studies

Access requires individual purchase of cases (usually $5-$10 in pdf), including purchase of copyright permission in situations where multiple copies are desired. Harvard does not offer institutional subscriptions that permit an academic library to subscribe to these case studies. Faculty interested in these cases for course packs should contact Luke Ware, ext. 2308 in the Office of Copyright Compliance
