Citation Guides

Government documents can be challenging to cite. Use these examples, along with your favorite citation manager, to cite these types of sources.

Use Google to search within a website

Use Google's "site search" trick to search within a website, or to limit your search to a type of website with a specific domain, such as .gov. This is particularly useful for searching multiple government websites at a time.

  1. Start with Google.com
  2. Type some keywords relevant to what you hope to find, in the search box.
  3. Follow your keywords with site: and then the website address you wish to search within.  Omit the prefixes www and http:.
