Seattle University Funding for Faculty and Staff
Seattle University offers a number of internal funding opportunities to encourage scholarship, pedagogy and creative pursuits among faculty and staff. Summer Faculty Fellowships
The Summer Faculty Fellowship Program is open to individual tenure-track or tenured faculty, and full-time librarians who are involved in an active program of scholarship. The program aims to provide salary support for efforts to build on previous scholarly or creative endeavors (e.g. for the writing of scholarly products or grant proposals) or to move projects in a new direction (research that could provide the basis for future proposals).
Provost's Office Term Faculty Development Funds
The Provost's Office offers faculty development funds to part-time and full-time term instructional faculty in order to supplement development funds available from the individual colleges. Funds are available to support conference or artistic project presentation travel, travel to serve at conferences or artistic events, travel to perform research for scholarly work, creative work, or course development, or as general support to develop a new course, pay association membership fees, or purchase books or software.
Global Grants Program
The Global Grants program supports new initiatives that will make an ongoing contribution to the global mission of Seattle University. Its primary focus is on developing and funding study that engages SU students in meaningful experiential learning with NGO partners in international locations. Current staff and faculty of Seattle University are eligible to apply.
Institute for Catholic Thought and Culture Fellowships
The Institute for Catholic Thought and Culture offers research fellowships and course development fellowships for Seattle University faculty. The fellowships are intended to allow faculty to expand the frontiers of Catholic thought through creative and scholarly pursuits.
Endowed Mission Fund
The Endowed Mission Fund provides grants to Seattle University faculty and staff for mission-related projects, research and personal development. The fund has previously supported a wide variety of projects, including campus lecture series, conference attendance, participation in training institutes, and mission-related travel opportunities.
Center for Business Ethics Faculty Fellows Program
The Center for Business Ethics Faculty Fellows Program provides financial and administrative support to Seattle University faculty members engaged in original projects, including research, course development and other co-curricular initiatives, which address themes related to the study of business ethics, corporate responsibility and the role of business in society, broadly construed. The Faculty Fellows Program is designed to support faculty projects across academic units, disciplines and methodologies. The Center seeks applications for up to three Faculty Fellows each year. Applications are due May 15th for the following academic year.
