Looking for ways to cover the costs of dissertation, capstone, or another research or creative project? This page collects resources that will point you toward potential funding options for graduate and professional students.
- Duke University Research Funding DatabaseDuke University maintains an extensive database of funding opportunities, most of which are relevant to researchers at any institution. The 'Advanced Search' option allows filtering by discipline, eligibility criteria, and deadline. Apply the ‘Grad/Prof Students’ filter under ‘Who’s Eligible’ to see options for graduate students.
- UCLA Graduate & Postdoctoral Funding DatabaseSearch hundreds of graduate student awards by discipline, academic level, citizenship, and other eligibility criteria. Some of the opportunities here are aimed at covering tuition, but many support research and project expenses.
- UC Berkeley List of Funding Opportunities for Women and MinoritiesThis list, maintained by UC Berkeley but relevant to researchers anywhere, collects funding options from both government and non-government sources that target women and minority researchers.
- Arts Deadlines ListThe Arts Deadlines List publishes announcements of arts funding opportunities and competitions across all arts disciplines.
- H-Net Funding AnnouncementsH-Net, an organization of social science and humanities scholars and teachers, compiles announcements of current funding opportunities on an ongoing basis, including awards aimed at graduate students.

Office of Sponsored Projects
The Office of Sponsored Projects (OSP) coordinates the management of funding granted to Seattle University for the purpose of carrying out a particular activity, such as research or a creative project. If you are a graduate student considering a funding opportunity from a private foundation, government agency, corporation, or other entity that will award money to the university or to a faculty member, you must consult with OSP prior to seeking funding from this source.
