Welcome SU Alumni!

Seattle University Alumni are entitled to numerous continuing benefits from the Lemieux Library and McGoldrick Learning Commons. Below you will find details of what library benefits are available to you. All visitors, including Alumni, to the Lemieux Library & McGoldrick Learning Commons must abide by our Library Access and User Expectations Policy. Please visit the Alumni Office web page to learn about other benefits, events, and professional development opportunities for SU alumni.

Getting Started

  • First, contact the SU Alumni Association to be set up with an Alumni email address
  • Second, fill out and submit the form to Request an Alumni Borrowing Account using your Alumni email address  
    • A Circulation staff member will contact you via email when your account is ready to use.
    • Once an Alumni borrowing account has been set up it never expires, but you will need to be renewed every two years to remain active. 
    • When you are ready borrow materials please bring a photo ID, such as government issued ID or passport, to the 3rd floor Circulation Desk.
    • Special note for Law School Alumni; an Alumni account does not get you access to Law Library databases, collections, or study space. Please email LawReference@seattleu.edu or call 206-398-4221 with questions about access.

Services

  • Alumni are allowed to check out a maximum of 6 items at a time without any renewals. Any Lemieux library books are loanable up to 6 weeks, while journals and media are loanable for up to 6 days. Library owned technology, reference books, and course reserve materials are not available for Alumni check out. 
  • Alumni can gain access to materials in Special Collections by appointment. 
  • Access to basic research assistance via the second-floor Information Desk.
  • Access the University's guest wi-fi through their personal devices. 
  • Alumni have limited access to a select number of library-licensed databases located at two walk-up visitor workstations on the second floor of the library. A list of the databases accessible on these terminals can be made available on request.
  • Alumni have access to the microfilm/fiche/book scanners located in the third-floor computer lab. Details of these machines are available on request. 
  • Alumni have access to use the Lemieux Library and McGoldrick Learning Commons attractive study spaces located throughout all 6 floors of the building. Private Group study rooms are available for use either on an Ad-Hoc or walk-up bases and by using the GSR booking module up to two weeks in advance. An SU email is required for use of the Group Study Rooms. To obtain a SU email please contact the Alumni Office. 
  • Alumni can also request to use the library and other select University building for meetings by contacting the Office of University Events.
  • Alumni are allowed access to the library physical spaces during Swipe-to-Study periods. These Swipe-to-Study periods effectually only allow access to the building with a valid SU ID card. This level of "card only" access is in effect in the evenings, on weekends, and during breaks and holidays. To arrange access to the building during these periods, Alumni will need to follow the "Getting Started" steps and then Submit an access request via the Contact the Library form.  Please include the hours and times you are interested in accessing.
