Paying for Lost Material or Makerspace Charges

Pay A Replacement or Makerspace Charge

As of Fall Quarter 2019, Lemieux Library is no longer accepting cash or checks for payments of damaged materials. The Lemieux Library now only accepts in-person and remote credit card payments for lost or damaged item charges.

To pay a Replacement or Makerspace charge, please follow these steps:

  1. Make a payment appointment using the "Schedule a Fee Payment" link above. You will need to enter your name, email, and phone number. Once a time slot is selected, a calendar event will be created for both you and the Access Services Manager.
  2. If you select to pay over the phone, the Access Services Manager will call you during your selected appointment time to process your payment. While this service accepts most credit and debit cards, we unfortunately cannot accept payments from American Express at this time.
  3. If you select to pay in person, arrive at the Lemieux Library Circulation Desk on the 3rd floor at the time of your appointment.
  4. Once payment is processed, you will receive an email receipt from the Converge Payment System and the Circulation desk.

If you have any questions or problems accessing this service, please contact the Lemieux Library Circulation Desk at (206) 296-6233 or email libcirc@seattleu.edu. Please allow up to 1-2 business days for a reply.

Lost and Damaged Materials

Lost or Damaged Item Policy

Lemieux Library, Summit, or Interlibrary Loan item(s) are declared lost proportionally to their loan due dates (see chart below).

Once an item(s) is declared lost, the library may take any of the following actions to facilitate the return of said materials:

  • Place a block preventing any further checking out of Lemieux Library, Interlibrary Loan, and Summit items.
  • Restrict or block the ability to place holds or request local Lemieux Library, Interlibrary Loan, and Summit Items.
  • Place a hold or block preventing or limiting the ability to register for classes, obtaining a transcript, and/or receiving a diploma.

Any or all restrictions, blocks, or holds will be lifted once the item(s) have been either returned, renewed, or an arrangement for paying a replacement fee(s) has been established.

The library does not charge accrued overdue fines for physical materials. Replacement charges for Lemieux Library items will only be added to a patron's record if the item(s) have been deemed lost by the patron that has the materials checked out.  Presently, the library is unable to accept new or used replacement copies of lost or damaged items in lieu of payment.
