While logged in to your SU ILLiad account you can make requests, track requests, and download articles you have requested.
First time users will be asked to fill out a brief registration form before making requests.
Interlibrary Loan (ILL) is a service free to the user through which you can request research materials, such as books, journal articles, book chapters, videos, and other materials that are not available in the Seattle University Libraries or in Summit. Course textbooks may not be requested. Please see the Interlibrary Loan Policy/FAQ for additional information.
After you make a request, Interlibrary Loan (ILL) staff will act on it by searching for other libraries that will loan or copy the desired material. Once the material arrives, you will be notified via email that your request is ready for retrieval. Loans (physical items) will be held at the 3rd floor Circulation Desk for you to check out, and article or chapter scans will be uploaded to your ILLiad account for you to download.
Interlibrary Loan at Lemieux Library is available to current students, faculty and staff. Patrons from the Law school should use ILL services from the Law Library.
ILLiad is the system that manages your ILL requests. Using ILLiad you can track the status of your requests, check due dates, renew checked out materials, and view your ILL borrowing history.
The first time you use ILLiad you will be prompted to fill out a one-time registration form, and then you can dive right in!

Some ILL materials can be renewed for a longer checkout period. To request a renewal, login to ILLiad and select Checked Out Items from the left hand column. From there you can select any materials you have currently checked out to you. If a renewal request is allowed, you will have the option to Renew Request. Click on that, and ILL staff will contact the lending library to see if they will grant a renewal. Renewals are not guaranteed and are granted solely at the discretion of the lending library.
You can track all ILL requests you've made in ILLiad using the options from the "View" menu in the main menu.

Articles & Book Chapters
Not all ILL requests can be processed, and your request may be cancelled if there is a reason it cannot be filled. If this happens, your request does not disappear, but is stored in the Cancelled Requests menu. From there you can review all of your cancelled requests, edit information in those requests, and resubmit them if you want. This is a useful tool if your request was cancelled because of an incomplete citation. You can just plug in the needed information and send it right back to ILL staff!

NOTICE: WARNING OF COPYRIGHT RESTRICTIONS
The copyright law of the United States (Title 17, United States Code) governs the making of photocopies or other reproductions of copyrighted materials.
Under certain conditions specified in the law, libraries and archives are authorized to furnish a photocopy or other reproduction. One of these specified conditions is that the photocopy or reproduction is not to be "used for any purpose other than private study, scholarship, or research". If a user makes a request for, or later uses, a photocopy or reproduction for purposes in excess of "fair use", that user may be liable for copyright infringement.
The Lemieux Library reserves the right to refuse to accept a copy request if, in its judgment, fulfillment of that request would involve violation of copyright law.
