Student Research & Creativity Conference (SRCCon 25)

The Seattle University Student Research and Creativity Conference (SRCCon, pronounced "Sur-Con") is an opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students conducting research or participating in creative works or artistic endeavors in all academic disciplines to share what they have been working on. 

 

Undergraduate students in all disciplines, including research papers and projects completed for a course in the University Core are eligible. Graduate students in all programs are eligible (including online programs). Presentation options include a poster presentation, oral presentation, and creative works (art exhibit, poetry reading, film screening, performance, etc.) All applicants need a faculty mentor to sponsor their application. 

 

A few program highlights (full program available day of at https://scholarworks.seattleu.edu/src-con/):

  • We kick off in the Student Center Hearth at 8:30am (breakfast/registration), and will host undergraduate and graduate sessions throughout the day.
  • Lunch Plenary, 12:00-1:15 in STCN 160: Celebration of Engaged Scholarship. Get a sneak peek of the upcoming volume of the Seattle University Undergraduate Research Journal. Hear from university leaders and a panel of impressive alumni who started their research journey at Seattle University, including College of Science & Engineering alum Dr. Tudi Le and College of Arts and Sciences alum Areesa Somani.  
  • Drop by our panel sessions, poster sessions, or enjoy creative works and performance pieces in the Fine Arts Building and Hedreen Gallery.

 

Fine Arts Showcases, including:  

  • Prof. Trung Pham’s Sculpture class will be working on a piece in real-time from 10-12 in the Lee Miley Rain Garden, just outside the 1101 Building 
  • Prof. Naomi Kasumi’s Design students will showcase their research design projects in the atrium of the Fine Arts Building, open throughout the day 
  • Space and Site in Contemporary Art at ADAL Rolfe Room from 11-12
  • Imagining the World photo exhibit will be open to visitors throughout the day at Gallery 2 on Floor 2 of the Lemieux Library 

  

Interdisciplinary Poster Sessions throughout the day on Floor 3 of the Lemieux Library and McGoldrick Learning Commons, including students from Psychology, UCOR, Economics, Kinesiology, and Computer Science. Presenters will be in the library sharing their work from 10-11, 2:30-3:30, and 3:30-4:30.  

 

SRCCon is supported by the following: Office of the Provost, Office of Undergraduate Research, Lemieux Library and McGoldrick Learning Commons, and the Office of Prestigious Fellowships and Awards.
