First Year Library Survival Guide: Home

Welcome!

Welcome to the Cornish Library!

We are looking forward to working with you over the next 4 years and beyond.

We hope you will think of the Library as an extension of your studio space -- a space for creativity and practice.

Cornish Librarians and staff are available for ANY questions; we may not know the answers to all of them, but we know where to look and who to ask!

Things to Know

  • Your Cornish ID is your Library card! You must have your card to use both in-Library and circulating items.

  • The Cornish Library does not charge overdue fines! However, we rely on you to bring items back promptly, and will charge you the replacement cost for any items that are excessively overdue.

  • Library items can be put on hold for pickup (at the Circulation Desk)

  • You can request items from the First Hill campus library (Lemieux Library & Learning Commons) be sent down to Cornish for pickup

  • Course Reserves are available for checkout at the Circulation Desk.  These are items that your instructors may reserve for your class to use. Most of these items are 2-hour in-library use only. (remember your library card!)

  • Ask at Circulation for DVDs and CD players; phone and computer chargers; flash drives; and small AV equipment.

  • Ask at the Reference Desk for all your research needs -- academic, creative or practical -- help with assignments, finding an item, and more!

  • The Library has quiet study space and comfy chairs!

  • There are tables on the mezzanine you can use for your online classes (headphones required - we have some for checkout)

  • We even have a private study room! You can reserve it via the library homepage.
