Read the News Without Paywalls

Running into paywalls can be frustrating – especially when you’re doing research, browsing the web, or trying to read an article that was forwarded by a colleague.  This is especially common with popular newspapers or magazines.  A question we often hear is, ‘Why doesn’t the Library subscribe to this publication?’

The truth is, we usually do!  We provide access to a number of major national and local newspapers and magazines through our databases.  The catch is that accessing them often requires an extra step, instead of just going directly to those publication’s website.

If you hit a paywall, remember: We’re here to help.  Stop by our Research Services desk on the 3rd floor between 12-4pm for an in-person walkthrough, or email us at askalibrarian@seattleu.edu to get a same day weekday response.  Our 24/7 Chat service is also always available, with Librarians (not bots) who can get you the information you need within moments.

So, the next time a paywall gets in your way – remember to ask a Librarian!  We can get you to the article you’re looking for, and get you back on track!
