A collaborative and inclusive space designed to support students, staff, and faculty through a network of resources and services both physically and virtually.

The Lemieux Library and McGoldrick Learning Commons adapts to meet the ever-changing needs of its users, including students, researchers, and faculty.

In this way, the Library has developed physical and virtual spaces to reinforce collaborative, exploratory, and peer-led learning.

The McGoldrick Learning Commons, operated by the Learning Commons Partners includes:

• Billodue Makerspace (located in the Sinegal Center)
• Learning Assistance Program
• Math Lab
• Media Production Center
• Research Services
• Writing Center

The McGoldrick Learning Commons (mainly located on the first and second floors of the Lemieux Library) supports learning at Seattle University through the co-location, coordination, and enhancement of student-centered academic services. Complementing the classroom experience, our Learning Commons Partners help students in all disciplines pursue their intellectual goals in conversation alongside peers, experts, and with access to scholarly and creative resources. Primarily geared towards undergraduates, these are full-service learning spaces––physical spaces that combine atmosphere, technology, and service to create a collaborative, comfortable, and dynamic educational environment.

The Learning Commons’ virtual spaces offer learning, research, and writing support from each of the Learning Commons Partners via Zoom or Microsoft Teams––allowing students to virtually meet with peer tutors, professional staff, and our team of Research Services Librarians.

The strength of the Library’s Learning Commons lies in the relationships it supports, whether this is connecting students to other students, faculty, staff, equipment or information. User-centered staff and professional positions, and the introduction of innovative on-ground and virtual services are examples of ways the Lemieux Library is evolving to remain crucial to Seattle University students.
